George Henry Fosbroke Power

Lieutenant George Henry Fosbroke Power RAMC was an initiate of the Apollo University Lodge No 357, the lodge of the University of Oxford.

He was the younger son of Lieutenant Colonel Sir D’Arcy Power KBE RAMC (TF) and Lady Power,

After Merchant Taylor’s he went up to New College, during which time he became a freemason and was also President of the University Fencing Club. He trained at Bart’s and became a surgeon there.

He got his commission as the Medical Officer for the 6th (Reserve) Battalion, the Middlesex Regiment on 15 August 1914, again following in his father’s footsteps.

He was reported wounded and missing at the Second Battle of Ypres on 8 May 1915 and later confirmed killed. He was 21.
