Samuel Harry Hill Barratt AMINstCEwas born 29 March 1867 the son of Samuel T P Barratt in Hampstead.
Leaving Merchant Taylors’ in 1886 he went to King’s College London and became an engineer.
He worked for William Adams Locomotive Engineers, the L&SW Railway, Ferranti Ltd before becoming a manager of the Boll’s United Asbestos Company Ltd, This was absorbed into J W Roberts Ltdof Leeds, of which he became a director and Becket Laycock and Watkinson Ltd. Engineers in London.
He was made a member of both the Institute of Civil Engineers and the Institute of Locomotive Engineers.
He was Master of the Lodge in 1927.
