George Reginald Barnett-Smith

George Reginald Barnett-Smith was born 4 November 1871, the son of the Rev. George and Hannah Barnett-Smith in Finsbury. He left Merchant Taylors’ in 1888 and became the English representative of firm of Barnett and Elichagaray who were London brandy shippers.

He joined the HAC and served with the HAC Battery attached to the CIV during the South African War, before being promoted Captain and serving on the Staff and as an Asst Provost Marshall during the Great War.

He was Master of the Lodge in 1899, a Founder of the Chapter and its third Z in 1925.

Hilda Beatrice McBean, the youngest daughter of Colonel Alexander McBean VD DL JP, a fellow freemason.
